Bracelet!

Just a little bracelet made from the pearl seed beads, the pearls were chosen as I was given a beautiful pearl choker with a gold butterfly by my soon to be mother in law.

Brooch

This little brooch is not quite finished yet as it need a pin, but so far its done for the look of it :)  Its made from one of the butterfly's from the rest of the set and using small pearl effect seed beads and a tear drop pearl.  I am hoping this will sit in the centre of my corset.

Circlet!

This is my favorate piece so far :)  A silver and ivory circlet with a tear drop pearl.  The ivory cord has been crocheted on to the band and secured at each end with the pearl drop attached in the centre.  It sits on the forehead with the drop falling between the eyes.

The bouquet

The bouquet was my first attempt at flower arranging so please be gentle :)

The finished bouquet :)  It's wrapped in the white ribbon used on the centrepieces and candle and the purple ribbon from the invitations.
The bouquet is held together with purple florist tape and then wrapped in purple ribbon and purple and silver beads.
View from above!  Using the wooden roses and more pheasant feathers the completed bouquet is simple, elegant and perfect :)

Centrepieces!!

The centrepieces were a very easy choice in the style I wanted.  As we are only having one full table for the buffet and the cake table, we decided to put a centrepiece at either end of the buffet table.  I got 2 recycled jars, that have a Victorian sweet shop feel to them.  Half filling them with white sand and copper cogs I used these to anchor in the flowers.
The flowers are wooden roses and are lilac tipped, We choose wooden roses as I want them to last long after the wedding and also to avoid allergens.   Taking 2 roses and 3 pheasant feathers I wrapped them in purple florists tape and positioned in the centre of the jars.  Then taking the white ribbon again and a butterfly I completed the look.

Unity candle!

The unity candle for our wedding was a very easy make :)  The candle we have had for ages and using a few butterfly's a a short piece of ribbon I glued each to them and this is the finished look.

The invitations!

After settling on a colour scheme of purples, most particularly, cadburys purple and lilac, and including my love of butterfly's as well, the invite idea was pretty straight forward.

Also thanks to the joys of EBay we managed to get all the items needed for them for under £20.  The wedding guest list is around 100 people but will only needs around 35-40 invites.

I got hold of a set of 50 A5 blank white cards and envelopes, some cadburys purple ribbon and some purple butterfly's.  Using a glue gun and a butterfly shaped punch the invites are done.
Once we have confirmed the date with the registry office the invites will have a lilac insert with the details on as well.

Steampunk on a budget

Due to serious health problems our wedding budget is pretty much next to nothing.
So we are having to find alternatives to the normal wedding expectations.  So with the help of family we have managed to keep most outlay to the bare minimum.  However when it comes to the decorations and dress we have decided that in order to not only fit in with our budget but also to get the wedding we want.  While Steampunk is the main theme, that's not the wedding I want :)  The groom wants steampunk I want Victoriana, so we are having both :)  Which technically steampunk is victoriana but without too many of the alternative sci-fi stuff.

So for the next 9 months this blog will follow our journey.

It's finally happening!!

Next August I finally get to marry my best friend!

Due to a love of Steampunk and Victoriana on both our parts we have decided to have a Steampunk wedding, which means we will therefore be making as much of the items for our wedding as possible.
From the Dress, to the favours, to the cake and decorations.

This blog is intended to follow the ideas, inspirations, making and completion of each item.
